The GPO kitchen tells a vibrant story of vivid colours, bold tastes, and fragrant aromas. Influenced by the cuisines of southern Europe, Levant and Mediterranean, our menu features smaller plates inspired by the tapas and mezzes of the Med, as well as larger dishes that include hand rolled pastas, pasture raised meats and locally grown organic produce.
Our sourcing is sustainable and considered, partnering with likeminded local suppliers.

Meet Chef Carl
Executive Chef, Carl Maunder has more than two decades of culinary experience that has taken him on a global journey to some of the most
highly acclaimed fine-dining restaurants by renowned celebrity chefs.
From humble beginnings here in Wellington, Carl fell in love with the kitchen; the smells, flavours, and dynamic environment. This kickstarted his global food journey, taking him to the iconic
La Caprice and Scott’s seafood restaurant in London’s West End as well as
holding culinary lead positions in award winning restaurants across
Auckland, Adelaide, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Dubai.
Now back home in Aotearoa Carl is excited to express the culmination of his culinary journey, revealing, “I am looking forward to telling our food story and sharing my experiences and inspirations I discovered throughout Europe, Mediterranean and Levant” Chef Carl is passionate about local produce and forging relationships with artisan producers and suppliers. This helps him to showcase and celebrate wonderful produce and seafood, which are deeply connected to the community and their stories.

Matangi Beef
We love this award-winning, grass-fed beef from the heart of Hawkes Bay. The quality of land is their key ingredient to raising healthy, strong, and flavoursome Angus cattle – and it shows.
Mediterranean Foods
From a small fish shop in Wellington’s Cuba street to NZ’s largest importer of specialty Mediterranean products. For brothers Joe and Gino Cuccurullo the vision is, and always has been very simple. It’s all about sharing traditions, a love of wholesome food, and a passion for life itself.

Caught to order and delivered to us straight from the local, nutrient rich waters of Tora, this passionate family business is dedicated to sustainability.
Olea Estate Olive Oil
As a key ingredient in well most of our dishes, we knew we had to source some of the best, local olive oil. Queue Olea Estate; a local single source estate growing some of the country's finest olives in the heart of the Wairarapa, to produce some of the world’s best olive oil.
Yellow Brick Road
Working with fisherman who catch using long-lines and people who farm and harvest oysters, mussels and clams by hand. They believe responsibility, respect and provenance is paramount to preservation – and we agree.
Lewis Farms
As a family business now in it's forth generation, Levin based Lewis Farms know a thing or two about growing great food!
Moana
We are proud to work with the largest Māori–owned fishery in Aotearoa, who show a deep sense of responsibility and respect for our kaimoana.
Clevedon Buffalo Co.
A family run, artisanal business, Celevedon Buffalo Co. were the first to farm buffalo in Aotearoa back in ’07. Now with 200 head of buffalo, they have won countless awards and we can see (and taste) why.
